Slingshot™ 4218
2Gb / 1Gb Open Fabric Switch

The Gadzoox® Networks Slingshot™ 2Gb Open Fabric Fibre Channel Switch is a high-speed, standards-based, full-fabric switch designed to deliver the storage networking industry’s highest levels of performance, flexibility, intelligence, and value. The non-blocking architecture, with 200 MB/sec full-duplex connectivity at every port, enables the Slingshot 4218 to be used to create a network that delivers over twice the bandwidth of today’s 1Gb Fibre Channel switches. Through support of the latest industry standards, such as FC-SW-2 and FSPF, Slingshot 4218 enables users to build heterogeneous SAN fabrics supporting 2Gb or 1Gb, fabric or loop devices, with switches from different vendors cooperating to route data across the SAN and share management information. With an unprecedented 18 ports in 1U, Slingshot 4218 switches build high-performance, intelligent SAN fabrics that can grow to enterprise-scale configurations, while conserving valuable rack space.
